Job Description:
NATURE AND SCOPE:
Ensures applicable welding procedures are used within the facility and validates that all welding related personnel is qualified in conformance with Solar specifications. Performs in-process inspections to ensure Solar’s Fabrications meet industry code and customer requirements. In this role, the QC Inspector C will internally represent the Quality Control Department and interface with the client’s representatives on site.
PRINCIPLE ACCOUNTABILITIES:
Comply with TurboFab’s Environmental, Health and Safety Programs, Regulations and Guidelines. Responsible for inspecting and receiving material in conformance with Solar’s requirements Responsible for reviewing and ensuring all production related documentation such as travelers, ITP’s and/or drawings are properly marked and signed in conformance with Solar practices and project requirements. Performs visual inspections of piping and structural components Liaise between multiple production groups to schedule and coordinate NDE inspections performed by contractors, as well as third party required inspections. Assist in the development of welding procedures and welder qualification activities Responsible for the preparation of weld maps for non-destructive testing performed on the piping spools.
KNOWLEDGE:
Working knowledge of welding and materials inspection in conformance with AWS D1.1, ASME IX and API 1104.
Must be able to comprehend technical information both verbal and written.
Must have basic computer literacy and working knowledge of Microsoft Suite Products (Excel, Power Point and Word)
Must be able to read and interpret shop drawings.
Strong interpersonal skills.
Ability to work as part of a diverse team.
High School Diploma or equivalent
PREFERED EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS
Certified Welding Inspector (CWI)
Certification by ASNT as an NDT Level II or ACCP Professional Level II in at least the following methods:
Magnetic Particle (MT)
Ultrasonic Testing (UT)
Radiographic Testing (RT)
Penetrant Testing (PT)
Working knowledge of Coatings Applications in conformance with NACE
