Overview

PURPOSE and SCOPE:
We are looking for Skilled and Confident individuals with a desire to build the next generation of market leading harvesting equipment. The Prototype Welder/Fabricator Intern is responsible for assisting the welders, fabricators and mechanics through interpreting engineering drawings, assisting in the fabrication of prototype machinery, and the updating of prototype part locations and status through the Engineering Prototype Shop.

This is a 4-8 month term position starting mid-May.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Enrolled in (or graduated) Engineering University, Engineering Technology, or Vocational Skilled Trades Program

Knowledge of: Welding, Assembly, or Fabrication/Machining.

Experience in multiple areas/disciplines is an asset.

Demonstrated ability to perform the following physical requirements:

Physically able to lift up to 50 pounds.

Physically able to twist and bend frequently.

Physically able to walk and/or stand for 8 hours.

Successful completion of all MacDon pre-screening assessments.

Ability to work with computer including Microsoft Office, and CAD viewer.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Able to understand technical drawings/blueprints.

Knowledge and familiarity with basic hand-held, air, and measuring tools.

Forklift Experience

Knowledge of agricultural machines and processes.

General Knowledge of mobile equipment electrical and hydraulics.

Able to understand and communicate information in a clear, concise manner.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Responsible for assisting the Welders, Fabricators and Mechanics by:

Interpreting engineering drawings.

Assisting in the fabrication and assembly of prototype machinery.

Updating of prototype part locations and status through the Engineering Prototype Shop.

Complete Equipment Inspection Sheets.

Update Parts Locations & Status on Engineering Part Tracking System.

Update Build Schedules in Engineering Shop Areas for better build visibility.

Work in a safe and responsible manner.

Know and understand the GHS & SDS labeling system.

Keep work area safe and clean and inform supervisor of any unsafe conditions.

Maintain a good attendance record and comply with company rules and regulations.

Assist with setup of lab/shop tests.
