Medicine Hat College’s School of Trades & Technology is welcoming applications for part-time, temporary instructors for the Welding Apprenticeship Program for the fall & winter semesters.

A little about the role:
As an Instructor, you have the opportunity to participate in a work environment, which values collaboration, safe work conditions, and student success through engaging, practical learning experiences.

Responsibilities include preparing and instructing lessons in shop settings, following the Alberta Apprenticeship curriculum, and assessing student learning through practical tests. This role requires time before and after scheduled instructional time for preparation, and to assist students. You will adapt your instruction based on feedback from students, participate in program development and maintain contact with relevant industries. You will also be part of a team responsible for overseeing the operation and maintenance of equipment used during instruction.

As a successful applicant you will have:
Completion of Alberta Journeyman/Inter-Provincial Red Seal in Welding

Minimum of 5 years related work experience as a Journeyman

Solid theoretical knowledge of the Welding trade

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

Ability to work in a team environment

Interest and enthusiasm in helping apprentices learn new ideas and develop new skills

Past experience with instruction and office computer applications are assets

Candidates will be required to perform practical assessment in GMAW, SMAW and FCAW
