SIN Structures Inc., a division of Steelcon Fabrication Inc., in St. Catharines, Ontario is seeking a QC Welding Inspector with relevant industry experience to augment our team and contribute to the growth and success of the company. The quality control inspector will help build a quality program by carrying out the inspections and the welding quality control required according to the procedures and specifications.

As a quality control inspector, you will contribute to our team by:

Perform visual inspections of final assemblies including welds within the plant, ensuring that inspections and quality control procedures are adhered to customer requirements.

Perform dimensional verifications and verification of material condition, grade, and specification to ensure compliance with drawings and/or other specific requirements.

Confirms work quality, compliance, and work performance adherence to established standards and codes by conducting observations, follow-up field audits, and weld monitoring.

Reviewing quality audit data and work with plant employees to ensure necessary changes are implemented to improve product and process controls.

Ensuring quick resolution of all non-conformances to specifications based on component and fabrication quality issues by preparing comprehensive non-conformance reports and corrective action reports in a timely manner.

Creating and maintaining quality reference materials based on customer specifications.

Inspecting raw materials, equipment, and output, as per control plans and specification requirements

Interpreting customer blueprints and specifications (including geometric tolerances) and technical information packages.

Using precision measuring and test equipment including verniers, calipers, micrometers, depth gauges to perform manual inspections.

Demonstrating a strong commitment to safety and participate in all group health and safety meetings.

Performing other duties as required in pursuance to the function of this position or as directed.

What you will bring to this role:
Minimum level 1 certified welding inspector from the Canadian Welding Bureau (CWB)

3+ years of progressive experience in quality assurance for production manufacturing is essential

Post-secondary education in a related field preferred

Experience in the structural fabrication environment is an asset

Ability to read and interpret drawings and specifications

Experience with producing and organizing quality controls to obtain manufacturing efficiency and quality, in a structural steel or steel fabrication environment is an asset

Understanding and experience working with GD&T specifications

Strong initiative and drive to work independently to deliver results and demonstrate the value of a Quality role to the business

Strong knowledge of welding processes

Work well in a fast-paced, deadline-driven, customer-focused environment

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

Strong written & oral communication skills and, attention to detail

Knowledge of Microsoft Office applications, AutoCAD and/or SolidWorks, AWS and CSA weld standards.
