Our Hinton Pulp Division is seeking an individual with strong leadership, organizational and interpersonal skills to fill the following position:

QUALITY CONTROL – FABRICATION EXAMINER / PIPING DESIGN

Reporting to the Maintenance Manager, the successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring piping construction, repair, and alteration activities are completed in accordance with the Act, associated Regulations, Codes and owner’s requirements.

Key responsibilities:
Oversee the following Processes:
Piping repair, alteration and new construction

Measuring and monitoring devices

CWB – Structural Welding

Fabricator’s Examiner:
Performs the quality control functions of the Fabricator or Erector of pressure piping.

Prepare the Quality Control package

Review of Hinton Pulp and Contractor turn over packages

Verify that all required examinations and testing have been completed.

Inspect piping to the extent necessary to satisfy conformance to all applicable examination requirements of the Code and engineered design.

Act as the Hinton Pulp representative for ABSA audits.

Must have the ability to read drawings and properly interpret joint symbols, and have knowledge of fabrication faults, quality control, and inspection methods pertaining to piping fabrication processes

Maintain all piping records as required by the AB-518

Conduct training sessions for Hinton Pulp employees to keep them up to date on Hinton Pulp’s Pressure Integrity Management System.

Piping Design:
Prepare spool drawings for review by a Professional Engineer.

Experience in pipe spool drawing software would be an asset (Acorn, Spool fab, Auto Cad).

Qualifications:
10 years’ experience in the design, fabrication, or examination of industrial pressure piping; OR have a P. Eng designation, be a certified welding inspector, or be an authorized inspector with 5 years of experience in the design, fabrication or examination of industrial pressure piping.

The Following are Considered Assets:
CWB Supervisor level 1 and Visual Examination Endorsements

Familiarity with ASME Codes, API Standards and AB-500 documents

Certification with NDE techniques
