Striping Service and Supply is a growing, seven-year-old distribution and light manufacturing company headquartered in Grand Prairie Tx. Our available product line includes a full array of road safety and pavement marking products. In addition, we also offer custom fabrication (adapted to your specifications) and sales of truck mounted attenuators (TMAs) and towable attenuators (TAs), utilizing the TrafFix Scorpion product line. These devices provide critical collision impact control for the protection of workers, motorists, and equipment during work on roadways. Our management staff has over 100 years of successful industry experience. We are the preferred supplier for many projects in the southern and southeastern region of the country, as well as serving the business needs of companies nationwide.

Position Summary
A sign shop production technician is responsible for the preparation and production of traffic, general and specialty signs to complete and stage for fabricating. Their duties include applying all the applications required to create signs. This position will be able to work independently with limited supervision.

Key Roles and Responsibilities

  • Complete repair diagnostic upon arrival of equipment.
  • Complete/assist with modifications (upfits) on required equipment. Include but not limited to: shortening the chassis, rolling axles, and welding components to a truck body.
  • Complete/assist with builds of: trucks, trailers, and attenuators etc.
  • Build/repair AFAD units as well as other required equipment.
  • Read and interpret scheduled jobs, blueprints and/or other written instructions and diagrams to be performed.
  • Ensure production schedules is being followed.
  • Conserve resources whenever possible to ensure budgetary integrity and customer satisfaction.
  • Cut, prep and load parts and materials for jobs as needed.
  • Monitor all processes and ensure project meets quality assurance before closing out the job.
  • Proven experience in electrical, mechanical, hydraulic and general fabrication (including welding, bending, cutting and grinding)
  • Experience using a variety of tools, equipment and maintenance of it
  • Experience in using electrical or manual tools (saws, squares, calipers, tape measure, etc.)
  • Ability to read and interpret technical documents and drawings

Physical Requirements

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel.
  • The employee is frequently required to stand, reach with hands and arms, and talk or hear.
  • The employee is required to walk, stoop, kneel, or crouch.
  • The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
  • The employee is occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts and vehicles.
  • The employee is regularly exposed to extreme heat and/or cold, or temperatures consistent to that outdoors.

Qualifications/Skills

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent preferred
  • One year experience working with traffic signs
  • Able to switch project direction in a fast-paced environment without frustration or confusion
  • Knowledge of best practices and safety procedures
  • Must be able to read a tape measure

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $15.00 – $20.00 per hour
