Rig Mechanic – Waggaman, LA

This is a full-time, hourly level position.

Position Summary:
ADM is seeking a mechanic for various mid-stream stevedoring rigs based out of our American River Transportation Company (ARTCo) location in Waggaman, LA.

Job Responsibilities:
Complete daily care, service and preventive maintenance of all deck equipment and winches; pumps; mobile equipment; generators; blowers; and any other mechanical equipment

Troubleshoot/diagnose problems with and make repairs to rig machinery with minimal assistance

Dismantle and repair heavy equipment, including mobile cranes

Move machinery and equipment as needed for diagnoses and repairs

Act as signalman for equipment operators and crane operators when needed and as assigned

Assist in deck operations when needed and as assigned

Assist in rig, ship and barge mooring operations when needed and as assigned

Complete all required trainings

Report all injuries, illnesses, and near misses in a timely manner

Additional duties and responsibilities as required or requested

Job Requirements:
Must have a minimum of two years of experience maintaining heavy equipment including, but not limited to track hoes, front end loaders, etc preferred

Basic understanding of diesel and mechanical technology

Basic mathematical skills sufficient to comprehend/complete a variety of tasks

Ability to operate a variety of tools and equipment including, but not limited to, cutting torch, welder, forklift, hand tools, power tools (impact wrench, drills, etc.) and electric meters

Reading and writing skills sufficient to comprehend/complete a variety of documents

Ability to work a flexible schedule; must allow for changes in assignments, and priorities depending upon identified needs of the operations

Ability to work well independently as well as part of a team

Must be able to work in all types of climates

Must have a demonstrated history of safe work behavior and a sincere desire to follow and improve upon safety policies and procedures

Must have reliable transportation to and from work

Ability to work extended hours, evenings, weekends, Holidays and be on-call as requested

Physical Requirements:
Must pass a pre-employment physical, drug screening and Company human performance exam (physical ability test)

Standing for prolonged periods of time

Frequent heavy lifting

Prolonged periods of kneeling, bending and climbing stairs/ladders

Ability to work near or on large bodies of water, at various heights and in confined and dimly-lit spaces
