Located in the Southern Athabasca region, MEG’s Christina Lake Project is a multi-phased project approximately 150 kilometers South of Fort McMurray in Northeast Alberta.

Comprised of approximately 200 square kilometers of leases, this SAGD operation currently has regulatory approvals in place to produce approximately 210,000 bpd.

All workers will be staying at the state-of-the-art Poplar Ridge Lodge, which boasts a gym, rec area, commissary, laundry facility, Wi-Fi, cable, custom sandwiches, as well as full breakfasts and dinners.

Jardeg is recruiting DSP Rig Welder Journeypersons with B-Pressure to join the team supporting MEG Energy Pipeline Projects on site near Conklin, Alberta. Long term positions with full-time hours on either an 8/6 OR 21/7 shift rotation. Drive-in/ drive-out to site with Travel Allowance provided.

Currently a $8 per hour incentive will be paid on top of base hourly rate to B-Pressure Rig Welders for all hours worked (regular and overtime).

Currently a $500 ($250 each way) Travel Allowance offered with requirement to drive to and from site each shift.

Welders join or sever metals in beams, girders, vessels, piping and other metal components, make metal parts used in construction and manufacturing plants, and weld parts, tools, machines and equipment. Welders develop patterns for projects or follow directions given in layouts, blueprints and work orders, clean, check for defects and shape component parts, sometimes using a cutting torch to weld parts together.

Responsibilities:
Weld up to 30 inches (FDI) per day when material is available, some welds may be customized while others may be repetitive procedures to complete the work.

Use welding processes such as SMAW, GMAW, FCAW, GTAW, or SAW to weld pressure piping.

Apply skills in the fusing of metals using prescribed welding applications.

Demonstrate knowledge of the welding equipment involved with the various welding procedures.

Comprehend drawings and develop layout patterns for projects and calculate quantities of materials.

Demonstrate a thorough knowledge of metals, arc electrodes, welding gases and gas welding filler rods.

Recognize defective welds; know the cause and proper procedure for the repair of the defective area.

Complete mathematic calculations pertaining to the welding trade.

Maintain working knowledge of the required codes.

Be familiar with the work of other trades people in affiliated trades.

Perform assigned tasks in accordance with quality and production standards required by industry.

Minimum Requirements:
Journeyperson Certification.

Construction Safety Training Systems (CSTS-09 or 2020) or Petroleum Safety Training.

Valid CWB

B-pressure Certification from ABSA.

Experience with grade 550 wire feed

H2S Alive.

Fall Protection.

Confined Space.

Aerial Work Platform (preferred not required).

Standard First Aid preferred not required).
