Overview
This is a position on a 14/14 shift schedule.
Welders join or sever metals in beams, girders, vessels, piping and other metal components, make metal parts used in construction and manufacturing plants, and weld parts, tools, machines and equipment. Welding usually involves applying heat to metal pieces to melt and fuse them together. Welders use different welding processes and fillers depending upon the type of metal, its size and shape, and requirements for finished product strength.
Rig Welder Journeyman will be expected to do but are not limited to the following tasks:
Weld up to 30 inches (FDI) per day when material is available (some welds may be customized while others may be repetitive procedures to complete the work)
Use welding processes such as SMAW, GMAW, FCAW, GTAW, or SAW to weld pressure piping
Minimum Requirements:
Journeyperson Certificate of Completion in the Welding trade
B-Pressure Certification from Alberta Boilers Safety Association (ABSA)
Construction Safety Training Systems (CSTS-09 or 2020) Certification
H2S Alive
Confined Space Entry (CSE)
Fall Arrest and/or Fall Protection (OSSA issued ticket is the general requirement)Uphand Ticket
Successful pass of weld test on production welds is a requirement
