Hourly rate: $33.32 – fully qualified (starts at Learner 1: $28.32/hr; Learner 2: $29.99/hr; Learner 3: $31.65)

We have opportunities for you to join our production team as a Seal Welder at our facility in Cambridge, Ontario. PRIMARY FUNCTION

To set up and operate seal welding equipment to perform tube to tube sheet welding; assist Fitters when not Seal Welding.

TASKS

· Receive prints and procedures, set up welding machine using gauges to position electrodes and welding wire onto practice test block, assist Fitters are required.

· Position welding machine over tube to be welded in the test block; adjust argon gas control, voltage and amperage meters to pre-established settings, making adjustments as required.

· Perform fillet and fusion welders per WPS’.

· Send test blocks to Quality Control for inspection approval; proceed to carry out tube to tube sheet welding as listed in the above procedure.

· Clean tube welds with a wire brush and a lint free rag; visually inspect and submit a report of any tubes requiring repair to Q.C.; mark all tubes requiring repair on the tube sheet print.

· Prepare test block for repair welds and submits to Q.C. Dept. for approval; prepare tubes for repair by machining, cleaning, welding; set up machine and weld for repair using same procedure as welding tube to tube sheet.

· Keep daily record of all tubes welded.

· Assist Fitter when not Seal Welding.

· Perform General Helper duties when not Seal Welding such as cleaning of steam generator components and assemblers. e.g. tube sheet holes, lattice grids.

· Keep immediate work area in a clean condition and orderly condition; work safely.

QUALIFICATIONS

· Successfully completed a welding program.

· Proven commitment to workplace safety.

· Previous experience in a heavy manufacturing environment would be a definite asset.

· Must pass a pre-employment weld test: Manual GTAW 2G (horizontal). Test is subject to a visual and bend test acceptance.

· Fitting knowledge is a definite asset.

· Commitment to quality and the ability to work as a positive, effective team member, willing to go the extra mile to ensure we meet our customer expectations.

· Available to work “off shifts”:

· Days: 6:00 am to 4:00 pm. (Mon – Thurs) OR

· Afternoons: 4:00 p.m. – 2:00 a.m. (Mon – Thurs) OR

· Weekend days: 6:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. (Fri, Sat, Sun; paid for 40 hours).

The successful incumbent will need to be available for all shifts for training purposes.
