The Incentive Program consists of an additional $60/day for this position – paid weekly. To receive incentive, “days worked” will be defined as minimum 4 hrs of work on site.

The Retention Program offers an additional $20/day, paid by July 1st, 2022 (or following corresponding pay period), or upon release by the employer (end of project).

Heartland Constructors Inc. is seeking Senior CWB Mine Welder Journeypersons to join the Imperial Oil Kearl Lake project team on site near Fort MacKay, Alberta.

These are permanent positions on a 14/14 shift schedule.

Welders join or sever metals in beams, girders, vessels, piping and other metal components, make metal parts used in construction and manufacturing plants, and weld parts, tools, machines and equipment.

Welders develop patterns for projects or follow directions given in layouts, blueprints and work orders, as well as clean, check for defects and shape component parts, sometimes using a cutting torch and welding parts together.

Senior Mine Welders will be expected to do but are not limited to the following tasks:

Be skillful in the fusing of metals using prescribed welding applications

Have working knowledge of the welding equipment involved with the various welding procedures

Comprehend drawings and develop layout patterns for projects

Calculate quantities of materials

Have thorough knowledge of metals, arc electrodes, welding gases and gas welding filler rods

Recognize defective welds; know the cause and proper procedure for the repair of the defective area

Have working knowledge of mathematics calculations pertaining to the welding trade

Have working knowledge of the required codes

Be familiar with the work of other trades people in affiliated trades

Perform assigned tasks in accordance with quality and production standards required by industry

Minimum Requirements:
Provincial Alberta Journeyperson or Red Seal Certification

CWB FCAW All Position welding ticket

Experience in heavy mine maintenance equipment

Experience in Ice Lugging and equipment repair

Construction Safety Training Systems (CSTS-09 or 2020) Certification

First Aid – Standard Level A or C Certification

Fit Test

Basic Rigging

Forklift Certification

Aerial Work Platform

Energy Safety Canada Certified Fall Arrest and/or Fall Protection

Welding tickets and/or welder performance qualification testing required: CWB FCAW

COVID Requirements:
This is a fly-in/fly-out position and as such will be subject mandatory COVID-19 vaccination requirements:

Please ensure you bring proof with you to the flight center and allow for at least 2 hours prior to flight departure.

Additionally, anyone accessing the IOL Kearl Lake Site will also require full vaccination (full course plus 14 days).
