Overview
Fabrication/Construction Estimator duties and responsibilities
- Build and maintain long-term relationships with the key vendors, customers, subcontractors and suppliers
- Establish unit costs, labour rates, productivity factors and location impacts
- Responsible for subcontract agreement negotiation, preparation, processing and execution
- Visit job sites and other venues necessary to do the estimate
- Review bid specifications and drawings to determine scope of work and required contents of estimate
- Contacts suppliers for their quotes on materials and equipment rentals
- Prepares estimates for material, labour and equipment cost based on job plan specifications
- Manage all subcontractors and suppliers
- Review and amend monthly Job Costs as needed
- Works with Administration on Pay Applications/Billing
Fabrication/Construction Estimator requirements
Previous working experience as construction estimator for 5 years
Associate Degree in Engineering or Construction Management, or a High School Graduate with equivalent experience.
Intermediate computer skills, Plan Reading, Scheduling, Estimating, Negotiating and Management.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills
Critical-thinker and problem-solver
