Overview

Fabrication/Construction Estimator duties and responsibilities

  • Build and maintain long-term relationships with the key vendors, customers, subcontractors and suppliers
  • Establish unit costs, labour rates, productivity factors and location impacts
  • Responsible for subcontract agreement negotiation, preparation, processing and execution
  • Visit job sites and other venues necessary to do the estimate
  • Review bid specifications and drawings to determine scope of work and required contents of estimate
  • Contacts suppliers for their quotes on materials and equipment rentals
  • Prepares estimates for material, labour and equipment cost based on job plan specifications
  • Manage all subcontractors and suppliers
  • Review and amend monthly Job Costs as needed
  • Works with Administration on Pay Applications/Billing

Fabrication/Construction Estimator requirements

Previous working experience as construction estimator for 5 years

Associate Degree in Engineering or Construction Management, or a High School Graduate with equivalent experience.

Intermediate computer skills, Plan Reading, Scheduling, Estimating, Negotiating and Management.

Strong interpersonal and communication skills

Critical-thinker and problem-solver

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Salary: $25.00-$42.00 per hour
