About the position

Our company is growing and we are seeking a motivated individual to join our team. Receiving instructions from the owner, you will be responsible for managing the day-to-day operations of our metal shop, as well as working on custom metalworking projects. The ideal candidate is an experienced welder who can think for themselves and handle arising issues without direct supervision.

Responsibilities and Duties

Manage and oversee day-to-day operations of the metal shop

Operate a variety of welding and fabricating equipment in a safe and effective manner.

Perform a full range of complex skilled welding and fabricating duties: work on custom metalworking projects involving steel doors and frames, cut and grind parts to specified dimensions

Provide a great level of attention to detail and focus

Read and interpret shop drawings and specifications, and follow written and verbal instructions.

Keep work areas clean and organized, take proper care of all equipment and request for maintenance when required.

Experience, Qualifications & Skills

Senior level experience welding / fabricating (critical)

Experience in steel door industry is an asset

Operations management experience is an asset

Experience operating a forklift is an asset

Driver’s license is an asset

Able to read fabrication drawings

Able to help finalize concept project

Accurately read a tape measure down to the 16th

Weld material in a flat, horizontal, and vertical position

Lift raw material manually (up to 50lbs.)

Ability to stand continuously for long periods of time

Accuracy, attention to details

Ability to take the initiative and work without direct supervision

Good at managing priorities

Ability to multitask, work well under pressure, solve difficult problems and deal with a variety of options in complex situations.

Good English verbal proficiency and communication skills
