Job Overview

Komatsu is recruiting a staff level position for a Senior Quality Manager for our Longview, Texas location. Komatsu offers an excellent benefit package, competitive salary, annual bonus potential and annual merit increases.

Key Job Responsibilities

Responsible for driving continuous improvement in worker safety and is dedicated to ensuring that each employee understands, and acts in accordance with, the company’s HSE policies.

Responsible for strategic, tactical and operational quality planning and for ensuring that all product provided to customers meet customer and regulatory requirements. This position has final accept/reject authority to ensure compliance with specified requirements.

Responsible to establish, publish and maintain policies and procedures relative to the scope of the quality management system and related activities.

Assists the management team by providing quality assurance and quality control support towards meeting company goals and objectives.

Responsible for directly managing the quality department’s Quality Manager, Quality engineers, Supplier Quality Engineers and Quality Technicians. Provides support to the Quality Manager in the management of Quality Control Inspectors, NDE Level II & III Technicians, Welder Inspectors, Physical Testing Specialists and Document Control Specialists. In accordance with company policies and applicable laws, responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees, planning, assigning, and directing work, appraising performance, rewarding and disciplining employees, addressing complaints and resolving problems.

Partners with manufacturing operations and technical services to decrease lead times and cost while simultaneously improving quality, customer satisfaction, and brand credibility.

Partners with performance leader and human resources to support learning and development activities pertaining to individual, department and location needs.

Develops and oversees initiatives to reduce the cost of quality defined as the summation of scrap, rework, and warranty as a percentage of total sales.

Initiates, recommends and manages process improvement changes with various departments.

Provides support to manufacturing operations in the investigation of problems identified during normal production or after the sale of the product. Recommends and coordinates improvement projects to prevent recurrence of the identified problems.

Improve quality by building process control and standardization into product planning, development, and manufacturing.

Qualifications/Requirements

Education and/or Experience – Bachelor’s degree in applied science or related technical discipline plus a minimum of 5 years of job experience in managing quality in a large operation or at a senior management level. Alternatively, registration as an Auditor or Lead Auditors for ISO 9001 by a recognized Registrar Accreditation Board such as ANAB or certification by the American Society for Quality (ASQ) as a Certified Quality Manger / Operation Excellence (CMQOE) plus a minimum of 10 years of job experience in managing quality in a large operation or at a senior management level.
