About the job:
Kent is looking for a Senior Welding/Materials/Metallurgy Engineer SME. This is a consultant opportunity and will support current Oil & Energy projects. This position is flexible on location.

You will act as Mechanical Lead within our Canada team and will be an integral part of a task force team in an ongoing sustainable project and assigned to new prospective projects.

Your responsibilities:
Liaise with and coordinate with the other engineering disciplines and procurement team.

Participate in all phases of project, including conceptual, FEED, detail design.

Provide construction and Commissioning support as required.

Perform job responsibilities under the direction of the Project Mechanical Lead and Project Engineer(s).

Work efficiently and maintain the required technical quality of work produced within the project schedule and budgeted man-hours.

Prepare Material design criteria of project scope.

Review of WPS, PQR, and Weld map using various codes and standards e.g. ASME Sec. IX, AWS D 1.1, 1.6, CSA W59 and W47 and maintains the checklist for each WPS.

Preparation of Material selection diagram (MSD) and Material selection report.

Understand and recommend corrosion mitigations measures, corrosion inhibitor testing, cathodic protection, painting/coating, etc.

Cathodic protection design support/Package.

Fabrication related NCR review / support /resolution for across project.

Review of NDE report/procedure.

Review of MTR, MTR issue/resolution/support.

Painting procedure review/resolution.

Review, support and resolve all material related issue for all project.

Interface with Client’s representatives and maintain a good relationship throughout the project

Perform materials failure investigation & root cause analysis, and lead/coordinate expert review workshops.

Build and maintain a positive relationship with all project personnel, engineering team, and other stakeholders

Your knowledge/skills, education, and experience:
Recognized Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical/Metallurgy Engineering from an accredited University

Registered/or be able to register as a Professional Engineer in the province of Alberta preferred

Minimum of 8 years’ experience in Oil & Gas and Mining Industries

Field experience will be considered an asset

Proficient with MS Office software (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)

Excellent report writing, communication, and presentation skills

In-depth knowledge of materials behavior in different industrial applications; provide optimum solution based on life-cycle costing; carry out corrosion risk-assessment and develop corrosion management strategy; plant integrity management systems (PIMS)

Experience in preparation/review of Piping Material specifications & requisitions of piping components, technical bid evaluation of piping/equipment components with respect to metallurgy, vendor drawing review of piping components for metallurgy issues

Ensure adherence to client and/or company specifications, work instructions, quality processes, governing codes and standards, and good engineering practice

Be conversant and knowledgeable with the requirement of current legislation and standards e.g., CSA, API, ASME Codes and industry Standards, Federal, and Provincial Regulations

Must be methodical and systematic in his/her approach
