Hours: Monday – Friday (7:30 am – 4:30 pm)

Miller Waste Systems Inc. has been in operation since 1961. Miller is a leader in waste management and diversion, providing governments and industries with a wide range of services in the provinces of Ontario, Nova Scotia, New Brunswick and Manitoba. Miller has over 50 years’ experience in the waste management sector, and currently operates out of more than 30 locations. We are looking for a highly capable Service Technician to be located out of our Etobicoke location in Ontario.

Miller Waste Systems is looking for a Service Technician with 2+ years of experience in the equipment service repair industry and with 2+ years of electrical and hydraulic repair experience. A collaborative but strong nature is essential, and the applicant’s background in service, repair and waste industry will allow them to succeed and grow within Miller Waste.

Responsibilities:
In the position of Service Technician your responsibilities will include but not limited to:

  • Must adhere to Miller Waste System safety protocols and must be familiar with occupational Health & Safety Act.
  • Conducting inspections and repairs on waste and recycling equipment such as waste containers, compactors and garbage chutes
  • Completing quoted service orders and service calls as needed
  • Must be able to work overtime if required
  • Basic computer and tablet knowledge
  • Must be a self starter and able to work unsupervised
  • Providing top tier customer service at all times and communicating with management and maintenance staff at each location.
  • You will also be responsible for daily circle checks of work vehicles and maintaining material level of work vehicles

Requirements:
The successful applicant will be comfortable with prioritization, planning, coordination, and organization, with an ability to respond and adapt in changing, high pressure environments. This individual will be able to assess problem situations, recognize issues, and use judgment to create solutions that meet required standards.

  • Must be legally eligible to work in Canada
  • Previous mechanical, welding, hydraulics and equipment experience is required.
  • Intermediate experience and knowledge on electrical and hydraulics systems is desirable.
  • Ability to diagnose and troubleshoot faults on electrical and hydraulic systems.
  • Post-secondary education in industrial mechanics is considered a definite asset.
  • Must possess a valid G license in good standing

Flexibility is also required as this position occasionally requires travel, early starts, late finishes and, on rare occasions, weekend work.
