POSITION SUMMARY:
The Shop Fabrication Inspector is responsible for inspecting quality at various sub-contractor fabrication facilities.
Note, this is an approximately 3 to 5 months project-specific hire. There is potential for longer term work pending successful future project awards. Expected start date would be in the second week of January, 2023.Consideration will be given to local and non-local talent.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Manage Quality Inspections as required by the Inspection Test Plans, Project Quality Plan, Client Specifications and the applicable code of construction.
- Progressively audit the shop fabrication sub-contractor Quality management system and documentation prior to release to the field
- Review project shop fabrication documentation for accuracy and completeness
- Ensure all required hold-points, witness points, verification points, and inspection points have been attended to and signed off on the ITP’s
- Raising Non-conformance reports and completing them in their entirety as non-conformances arise.
- Audit Calibration certification for measuring and inspection devices along with welding and coating equipment
- Liaise with the client representative while maintaining a courteous and professional relationship
- Provide daily communication to Mastec Field Construction team as to progress of fabrication and release to the field.
- Complete ‘Weekly Quality’ Reports for the project manager and Area Quality Lead on the state of compliance of the project and status of quality assurance and control activities
- Create and maintain tracking log for each component being released to the field; including status of quality documentation.
- Act as a role model for, and behave in ways that are aligned with, MasTec’s Core values of Teamwork, Excellence, Respect, Duty, Integrity and Protect, while encouraging other to do so as well
- The scope of this project requires the utilization of four fabrication facilities; travel will be required as needed by the project
- Other duties as required
EDUCATION AND WORK EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
- Certification in a trade or equivalent work experience, such as Welding, Pipefitting experience is preferred
- 5 years of relevant experience
- CWB Level 1 required
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:
- Take reasonable care of your own and others’ health and safety and of those who may be affected by the day-to-day delivery of this role by taking personal responsibility for working toward MasTec Canada’s Core Values
- Strong Microsoft Office and Acorn skills
- Ability to prepare, organize, and maintain inspection data, reports and systems
- Valid Driver’s License
