Overview

This position reports directly to the Vice President of Operations and is a key role in the company’s leadership team. The role will also play a significant factor in meeting the overall company objectives of delivering a quality product on budget and on time.

Duties and Responsibilities;

v Oversees and directly supervises all shop employees.

v Ensures all company safety policies are being followed.

v Good communication between all departments to ensure successful projects.

v Coordinate maintenance of all shop equipment.

v Ensure quality control measures are maintained.

v Attend and provide input at production meetings.

v Schedules training for employees.

v Provide expertise for better work flows to maintain efficiency and deadlines.

v Review and organise shop drawings for fabrication.

v Maintain Inventory of shop materials and supplies

v Organise and assign work priorities and monitor work flows.

v Schedule vacations and approve time off requests.

v Maintain time and attendance for shop employees.

v Prepare materials for fabrication according to shop drawings.

v Provide expertise and guidance to layout, position, fit and assembles parts according to the shop drawings.

v Provide leadership, training and guidance to all employees.

v Follow company disciplinary policies and work towards positive corrective actions.

v Adhere to all company policy and procedures.

Requirements;

v Completion of secondary schooling may be required.

v Minimum of 10 years experience as a structural steel fitter is required.

v Experience in fabricating structural and miscellaneous steel components is required.

v Reading shop drawings and blue prints is required.

v Working knowledge of CSA W47.1 & CSA W59

v Supervisory experience leading a team is required.

v Knowledge and operation of shop equipment is required.

v Computer skills are required.

v Experience in ironworking and/or welding would be considered an asset.

v Physically able to stand and lift objects up to 50lbs is required.

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Salary: $70,000.00-$90,000.00 per year
