Overview

Overview: Applies skills and appropriate welding processes to join, surface, fabricate or repair parts of metal or other weldable materials. Consistently meets or exceeds production, quality and safety requirements for assignments.

Skills and Abilities:Ability to:

  • Use metal core mig, tig, fluxcore sub-arc, or stick welding process. Must pass two or more tests (3G test required) and non destructive exam)
  • Weld brackets and braces and use grinders
  • Comply with all applicable safety and environmental policies and procedures
  • Work with the team in developing improved work processes for the department
  • Position pieces to be welded into jigs, holding fixtures, guides, and steps using measuring instruments and hand tools
  • Perform position welds on code materials
  • Read and understand blueprints
  • Operate basic cutting equipment including flame and plasma cutting torches

Knowledge:

  • Working knowledge of metal core mig, tig, fluxcore sub-arc, or stick welding process
  • Working knowledge of basic cutting equipment operation
  • Working knowledge of different types and sizes of pipe, structural, and vessel materials
  • Working knowledge of flame and plasma cutting torches

Minimum Education and Certification:

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Welding training or equivalent related on-the-job-training
  • Pipe or plate welding certification if required in assigned facility
  • Must provide own welding hood, chipping hammer, and wire cutting pliers

Minimum Experience:

  • Typically 1-12 months related experience and/or training

Leadership:

  • May serve as a resource to others with less experience

  • Performs other duties as assigned

  • Regularly required to lift, move and carry up to 50 pounds and to push and pull up to 90 pounds
