Fabrication Technician – Standard and Custom Products

Our business is the newest division of The Brand Felt Group. This is a collection of businesses which are family-owned and operated with manufacturing/fabrication facilities in Canada, USA, and Germany. Throughout our companies we maintain a small-business feel, while offering the stability of a 450-employee organization world-wide.

We pride ourselves on making something tangible! We are looking for a hands-on individual that enjoys diverse problem solving and isn’t afraid to get their hands dirty. The ideal candidate feels comfortable in a manufacturing environment and has a strong working knowledge of mechanical processes.

Responsibilities:

  • The creation of custom fabricated products using a variety of manufacturing techniques under the guidance of the Production Supervisor
  • Utilizing resources including (but not limited to) CNC machinery, heat presses, power saws and grinders, drill presses, and adhesive tools—as well as the proper care and maintenance of all machinery
  • Utilizing software to edit and create CAD/graphic files for efficient planning and production
  • Required to read and interpret technical drawings and instructions for fabrication
  • Able to perform all stages of fabrication and, at times, responsible for the full execution from start to finish. This includes (but is not limited to) production scheduling, overall production planning and expectation setting, inventory assessment, fabrication, and custom packaging to ensure safe and reliable shipment
  • Together with the sales team, consult customers on how to best fabricate custom concepts
  • Hands on fabrication using materials like felt, metal, glue, and wood
  • Continuously work towards process excellence
  • Mindful of quality control and finding solutions through root-cause analysis if issues arise
  • Ensure orders and projects are completed on-time/on-schedule

Requirements:

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Superior attention to detail
  • Confident math skills particularly with measurements and conversions
  • Exceptional organizational skill, particularly when documenting steps and trials in custom fabrication—to be used for quality control and the efficiency of similar/future orders
  • Strong ability to multitask
  • Continuous improvement mindset
  • A Team Player—Someone who thrives in a team environment and welcomes tasks that move the business forward, as a whole
  • Independent and self motivated when necessary
  • Ability to interpret as well as work with CAD drawings and programs
  • Critical/Creative thinking – Able to anticipate and proactively solve potential issues

Assets but not requirements:

  • Carpentry experience
  • Custom fabrication experience
  • CNC experience
  • Upholstery experience
  • Forklift experience
