Overview

Position Summary

Performs application development and lab testing to primarily support hardfacing sales effort. Writes reports on testing and results. Provides guidance to customers, sales, marketing and manufacturing on area of expertise. Performs other lab duties as required to support product development and business growth opportunities.

Primary Responsibilities

· Plan and carry out lab testing programs, prepare test plates using oxyfuel cutting, plasma arc cutting, grinding and GMAW/FCAW welding, and weld test plates using automatic and semiautomatic welding equipment, prepare welds for testing, submit plates to lab for testing.

· Provide advice to sales, marketing, and manufacturing in areas of expertise including but not limited to hardfacing, joining of carbon and low steels and stainless steels.

· Visit customers as required in support of sales effort and troubleshooting. Travel commitment is expected to be 25-30% of available time.

· Perform metallographic preparation of samples and perform hardness, wear and other required tests.

· Maintain lab safe and clean manner

· Other duties as deemed necessary

· Adhere to all safe work practices and/or safety policies

Minimum Qualifications

· Welding Vocational Diploma with minimum 5 years related work experience; HSD or GED required

· Experience in the area of hard-facing will be a plus

· Must be physically capable of demanding work including lifting up to 70 lb.

· Must be able to work independently

· Must have good written and oral communication skills

· Must be legally authorized to work in the US

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $1.00 – $2.00 per hour
