The Steam Turbine Rotor team is continually evolving with the breadth of work as we face a whole new industry of work content on the Charlotte campus and global change in the energy market. Our success depends on the creativity, skill, and innovation of every employee as we develop new ways to process higher volume work more efficiently as a team. From the smallest rotor (<1,000 lbs.) to the largest (>150 tons), we manufacture them all with innovative machining and assembly.

A Snapshot of Your Day

The primary job requirements of this position are to perform a wide variety of operations to disassemble/ re-assemble turbine rotor and related parts to meet engineering drawing requirements. Execute metal deformation processes using both machine and manual methods for rivet forming.

Perform variety of machining operations using manual milling machines, surface grinders, mag base/radial drills for sizing and fitting of rotating air foils. Weld and braze activities for joining blade lugs and assembly of blade erosion control. Operate dust blast equipment to non-destructively clean components.

Use precision instruments to measure frequency, temperature, and size for assembly, fitting, and final product quality checks.

You will receive written/verbal instructions from supervisors/manufacturing engineers, interprets detailed drawings/sketches, blueprints, manufactures specifications, etc., and determine necessary tools. Load/unload parts from machines and/or assists crane operator.

Uses manual welders to perform various welding on steam rotors components.

Abide by all company policies regarding, safety, quality, housekeeping, and performance expectations.

How You Will Make an Impact

Minimum 3-5 years’ experience in close-tolerance handwork and strong math skillset.

Minimum 1 year experience with manual welding.

Must be able to attain in-house certifications on fork truck operation and critical crane lifts.

Must be able to pass weld tests during the interview process as required.
