Job Summary: This position is responsible for fabricating, fitting assembling all steel related to miscellaneous metals, and structural steel projects along with other work duties as assigned.

Responsibilities and Duties:
· Lift or move materials (up to 80lbs) and finished products, manually, using forklifts or using overhead cranes
· Hammer, chip, and grind workpieces in order to cut, bend, and straighten metal
· Lay out and examine metal stock or workpieces to be processed in order to ensure that specifications are met
· Locate and mark workpiece bending and cutting lines, allowing for stock thickness, machine and welding shrinkage, and other component specifications
· Mark reference points and transpose them to workpieces, using measuring devices, squares, and soapstone
· Position, align, fit, and weld parts to form complete units or subunits, following blueprints and layout specifications, and using jigs, welding torches, and hand tools
· Remove high spots and cut bevels, using portable grinders, and cutting torches
· Straighten warped or bent parts, using sledges, hand torches, or straightening presses
· Study engineering drawings and blueprints to determine materials requirements and task sequences
· Tack-weld fitted parts together
· Weld components together

Always works in compliance with the organizations Health and Safety Program, and Occupational Health & Safety acts and regulations, and use personal protective equipment and clothing as directed by the organization.

Qualifications:
· Highschool education
· Driver’s License in good standing, with a clean driving record
· CWB Welding Certification for CSA Standard W47.1
· CWB Welding Certification for CSA Standard W59

Physical & Psychological Working Conditions/Requirements:
· General shop environment
· Ability to work in a loud, noisy environment due to material and machinery used
· Lift up to 80 lbs. and handle material
· Ability to operate machinery within safety requirements per the key responsibilities
· Effectively work as a team player
· Manage deadlines and work under pressure
· Ability to handle cognitive demands of the work as outlined
· Ability to understand and interpret fabrication/construction drawings
