Overview
Metalcon is looking to hire an experienced steel guardrail fabricator to join our fast growing Miscellaneous Steel team! Applicates must be comfortable reading detailed drawings & laying out steel rails accordingly from beginning to end.
Qualifications:
- Ability to work from plans and drawings, written and verbal instructions; ability to carry out manual tasks.
- Successful completion of the Certificate of Qualification (C of Q) for a Welder/Fitter.
- Physically fit and Able to lift up to 50lbs
- Previous carpentry experience or framers experience would be an asset
- Stainless steel and Tig experience considered an asset
- Minimum 5 years experience
Other Duties & Responsibilities:
- Working knowledge of tools, equipment, methods, practices and procedures of the welding and fabrication trades.
- Performs all cutting requirements for fabrication using powered saws.
- Lays out, positions, and secures parts and assemblies according to specifications, using straightedge, combination square, and angle finder.
- Tack-weld or Welds (mig) all components and assemblies, using electric, gas, arc, or other welding related equipment.
- Willing to work overtime to perform shift work necessary to fulfil deadlines.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Protects staff and visitors from welding flash/arc work through the use of various protective measures (e.g., visual screening, barricades, road closures etc.).
- Develops templates (jigs) and other work aids to hold and align parts.
- Other duties as assigned.
Salary: Competitive based on experience – Paid Weekly.
Hours: Monday – Thursday 7am-4pm Friday 7am-2pm
Job Type: Full-time
Salary: $21.00-$35.00 per hour
Schedule:
- 8 hour shift
- Monday to Friday
