Job Title: Steel Welder

Location: Ocala , Florida

Position Summary:

Responsible for set-up, lay-out, and tack-up of various precision frame weldments and brackets. Move parts and heavy frames on and off machinery and throughout the facility.

Daily Job Responsibilities/Functions to Include, But Not Limited To:

· Set-up, lay-out, and tack-up of various precision frame weldments and brackets.

· Tack-up structures to tight tolerance

· Move parts and heavy frames on and off machinery and throughout the facility.

· Square up and weld various shapes of components.

· Read drawings and take measurements

· Weld both vertical and horizontal planes

· Weld out precision frames to exact tolerances

· Performs other duties as assigned by management.

Desired Characteristics:

· One to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience

· Excellent attendance and punctuality history

· Able to make decisions based on experience and available data

· Requires minimal supervision to plan and schedule workload according to production schedule

· Strives to meet or exceed job requirements

· Arrive to work, meetings, appointments, and other work-related functions on time and as scheduled

· Interacts with organizational team members and other departments in a professional manner

  • Work to continuously improve the operations of the department through lean activities and improvement suggestions
  • Willing and able to work flexible hours

Skills and Abilities:

  • Ability to pass MIG welding assessment and become certified on required alloy/joint combinations
  • Detail oriented with exceptional eye/hand coordination skills

· Good understanding of set up techniques

· Ability to read drawings and take or read measurements

  • Ability to read, write and speak English
  • Ability to solve basic mathematical equations
  • Ability to interpret specifications, blueprints, and work instructions
  • Ability to apply common-sense understanding to carryout detailed written and/or oral instructions.
  • Ability to follow through on work assignments

Performance Expectations:

Safety, quality, accuracy, timeliness, reliability and thoroughness of work performed; gains the trust and respect of the shift supervisor, co-workers and other employees; develops good working relationships with the shift supervisor, co-workers and other employees. Develops working knowledge of the production environment and has ability to respond to change.

Equipment/Machinery Used

Welding machines, Mig welder and Tig welder. 4.5 inch and 7 inch angle grinder, manual vertical band saw, pedestal grinder, and various clamps and fixtures; basic manual milling machine, forklift, tape measure, hand tools. Other equipment used: Oxy/Acetylene Torch and Plasma Torch.

Physical Requirement

While performing the duties of this job the employee is regularly required to stand and/or sit for long periods of time; walk on non-forgiving surfaces such as concrete, wood, and metal (to include metal or fiberglass ramps placed on 30 degree angles); climb stairs, balance, climb, stoop, crouch, and crawl; walk on hilly and uneven ground; use hands to handle and feel; reach with hands; lift push, pull, and/or move more than 50 lbs. without a mechanical aid; and communicate with others Work environment is a manufacturing warehouse atmosphere with extreme temperature changes, loud noises and machinery with moving parts. Work environment could also involve some outside exposure.

Working Conditions

  • May be exposed to noise, dust, fumes, airborne particles, smoke (Not over OSHA Permissible Exposure Levels).
  • Safety training and equipment are provided by MPP in accordance with applicable law, industry standards and company policy.
  • Occasionally lifts more than 50 lbs.
