Peerless Pump, an Indianapolis based subsidiary of Grundfos, is seeking a Structural Fitter/Welder to join its Houston Production Team.

The Structural Fitter/Welder is a skilled craftsman that uses heavy metal plates and shaped sections to fabricate large structural weldments according to engineering drawings and specifications. A structural fitter demonstrates a high level of productivity without impact to quality. This position reports directly to the Production Supervisor and will operate daily out of the Houston facility Monday-Thursday (occasionally Friday).

Relocation for this position cannot be supported and qualified candidates must have authorization to work in the USA without support.

What is the job about?

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
Follows oral or written instructions from supervisors.

Interprets engineering drawings, plans, and patterns for structures to be fabricated.

Accurately marks measurements and shapes on metal surfaces.

Cuts and trims heavy metal plates and sections to specified dimensions.

Fits and tack-welds metal members together to form large structural weldments.

Must be certified to tack-weld procedures.

Moves materials, supplies, and tools to and from work areas.

Inspects own work and completes quality documentation as required.

Performs preventative maintenance on equipment.

Maintains a safe and clean work area.

What do you need to apply?

High school diploma or GED

3-5 years related experience

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Able to read and interpret blue prints, drawings and specifications

Material handling equipment (fork lift, pallet jack, etc..)

Cranes, hoist, screw jacks, hydraulic jacks

Basic computer skills (MS Windows, Sharepoint)

Tape measure and square.

Arc, plasma, and flame cutters.

Stick and wire-feed welding machines.

Small power tools.

Protective clothing and safety gear.

This position requires the incumbent to stand for extended periods, frequently grasp tools, stoop, crouch, reach, stand, and walk when performing duties; twist and reach.

Specific vision abilities include close, distance and peripheral vision.

Ability to lift up to 40 pounds.

Able to work in a non-climate controlled factory environment.
