Overview
We are needing structural fitters & welders to work with a large structural steel fabrication company in Metairie. Fitters need to be proficient/have experience working with structural steel in a fab shop setting. Welders should be familiar with flux core CO2 welding process. Will need to be able to perform fillet welds of all sizes in multiple positions. Welders who can perform complete joint penetration welds are strongly considered. Reading plans/prints for both welders and fitters is a huge plus. Working a minimum of 40 hours per week (Mon-Thurs) and during the current busy season, an additional 10 hours of overtime is offered on Fridays as well.
Requirements:
-At least 3-5 years of experience working in structural steel fabrication shops. Experience fabricating bridge girders, flood gates, stair cases and trusses is a plus.
-Basic hand tools of your respective trade. Larger power tools will be provided.
-Only PPE that is required is steel toed boots and gloves. Welders will also need their own hood/shield.
-Structural welders may be required to test in Metairie.
-Ability to pass a swab drug screening and criminal background check.
-Valid identification proving right-to-work in the US.
-Reliable transportation to get to the job, on-time, everyday.
