Overview
PERSONNEL by Elsie is currently hiring Structural MIG Welders for our Windsor client. These positions specialize in super-structures and will require a day/afternoon shift. Our client supplies to oil and gas, automation, aerospace and pressure vessels.
Must have 5 years or more experience in structural MIG work.
Weld Qualification Tests prior to reporting for the first day of work
WAGE/SALARY:
- $20 – $24 per hour depending on experience
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Measure and mark work pieces using straightedges, rules, and calipers
- Cut and smooth metal components using plasma cutters, portable grinders, lathe, and milling machines
- Read and interpret blueprints and production drawings in order to lay out a welding project
- Operate forklifts/cranes may also be required so experience is preferred
- Weld materials in flat, horizontal, vertical, and overhead positions
- Adjust gas gauges to set the flow rate of shield gas
- May conduct x-ray, and tolerance tests to assess weld quality and conformance to specification
- Use measuring instruments such as micrometers and calipers to inspect angles, grooves or gap allowances
- Apply knowledge of metallurgy and geometry in selecting welding equipment and configuration
REQUIREMENTS/EDUCATION:
- High school diploma, vocational training or its equivalent as an apprentice
- Certifications from recognized welding associations
- Physical dexterity, attention to detail
