Job Purpose

Fitters are responsible for assembly, fitting, installation, and fabrication of metal components for various structures and products.

Responsibilities

  • Displays a commitment to Waiward’s incident-free vision, values, and culture.
  • Reads blueprints and specifications to determine the materials necessary to lay out work.
  • Assembles and fits metal section and plates to form complete units or subunits using tack welding, bolting, or other methods.
  • Lays out reference points and patterns according to component specifications.
  • Grinds, stamps, cuts and drills material.
  • Conducts housekeeping and general cleanup.
  • Attends daily toolbox meetings.
  • Demonstrates a willingness to learn and ask questions.
  • Completes tasks with minimal errors, rejections and NCR’s.
  • Ensures that all non-conformances are reported and that the shop, where applicable, maintains the integrity of quality standards.
  • Follows and documents established procedures.
  • Reports personal injuries, no matter how minor, and obtains medical attention as required.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Must be a registered apprentice, an Alberta-certified journeyperson, hold a valid recognized credential, or possess the skills and knowledge expected of a Journeyperson.
  • Basic Rigging Course an asset
  • FLHA Training an asset
  • Certified Overhead Crane Operator an asset
  • WHMIS

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Salary: $19.10-$35.67 per hour

  • 10 hour shift
  • Day shift
  • Night shift
