Structural Steel QC Welding Supervisor/Inspector

Garneau Manufacturing Inc. an established Fabrication company in Morinville is currently looking for full-time QC Welding Supervisor/Inspector. The position is primarily a Monday to Friday day shift position with a focus on keeping our commitment to provide our customers with the quality they deserve. Employees must have their own means of transportation and hand tools.

Education, Skills and Experience

· Must be an Alberta-certified journey person who possesses the skills and knowledge expected of a supervisor.

· Must be familiar with FCAW (Flux Core Arc Welding) and MCAW (Metal Cored Arc Welding); all positions.

· Preference will be given to those who have a CWB Welding Supervisor and/or Level 1 Ticket.

· Must have 3 to 5 years of welding inspection experience in a structural steel/shop environment.

· Ability to inspect welds to given standards, preferably CWB W59.

· Must have experience with Overhead Crane Operation and Basic Rigging is required.

· Must be able to read and understand written planning and following verbal instructions.

· Ability to effectively manage time and meet all specified deadlines.

· Must have an acute attention to detail to ensure quality standards are met.

· Must have a ‘safety first’ attitude in and out of the shop.

Duties Include:

· Inspecting all welding projects to ensure all QC/Welding procedures are being followed.

· Working with the Quality Control team to line up NDE and document potential rework.

· Coordinating welders, perform weld mapping and monitoring the progress of operations.

· Assisting in the hiring and training of new welders/apprentices.

· Cultivating safe work practices, guidelines and policies at all times.

· Responding and addressing urgent and non-urgent situations involving employees and/or contractors.

· Reading blueprints and specifications to determine the materials necessary to lay out work.

· Perform and conduct welding duties as specified by procedures, blueprints, work orders or oral instruction.

· Conducting housekeeping and general cleanup.

· Attending daily toolbox meetings.

· Additional responsibilities as assigned.
