Overview
Fitter-Welder is responsible for fabricating, assembling and welding structural steel while maintaining quality and accuracy in accordance with blueprints and in house shop detail provided.
Responsibilities include –
- Fabricating, Assembling and Fitting Structural Steel
- Rig, hoist and move materials to and from workstation using various methods. (O/H crane, forklift ect.)
- Lay out reference points and symbols on the structural steel according to the blueprint.
- Assemble and fit metal sections and plates using tack welding, bolting or other methods.
- Operate arc welding equipment.
- Set up and operate various equipment such as torches, drills, various clamping tools, squares, disc grinders and other hand held tools.
- Ensure safe work practices are adhered to and appropriate PPE is worn at all times.
Required –
- Minimum 3 years welding experience
- Experience in a manufacturing plant working with structural steel an asset
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints
- Ability to read a tape measure in both metric and imperial
- Ability to Operate Overhead Cranes
- Ability to Weld
- Knowledge of Health and Safety procedures
- A team player
- Organization Skills and the ability to be flexible in managing changing priorities
- Communication Skills
- Attention to detail
- Problem Solving skills
