Ardel Steel has established a solid reputation in the fabrication, distribution and installation of reinforcing steel and related products in Saskatchewan. We are seeking a motivated individual with a winning attitude for the position of Structural Welder Assistant. The primary responsibility of this role will be the welding and fabrication of teleposts and beams for the residential and commercial construction industry.

Hours: Seasonal full time, shifts may vary.

Position Functions:

· Weld components in flat, vertical and horizontal position

· Examine work piece defects, measure pieces to ensure conformance with specifications

· Ensure assigned work is understood prior to commencing and completed within the given timeframe

· Complete necessary paperwork

· Complete housekeeping duties in assigned areas when required

· Provide quality and customer focused workmanship

· Comply with all safety procedures including participating in safety meetings, inspections, maintenance logs and fire drills

· Other duties including, but not limited to: filling customer rebar orders, loading/unloading trucks, working with various rebar equipment (training will be provided)

Qualifications:

· Six(6) months experience using a mig welder & oxy-acetylene equipment

· CWB welding certificate is an asset

· Overhead Crane operator experience is an asset

· Ability to operate a steel band saw and paint sprayer

· Ability to follow directions and work independently

· Strong verbal communication skills

Work Conditions:

The physical demands of this job require continual use of hands, arms, legs and movement of the entire body for purposes of lifting and handling materials. The daily use of personal protective equipment including, but not limited to; safety glasses, steel toe work boots, gloves, hardhat and hearing protection are mandatory.
