New Format Studio specializes in metalworking – specifically high quality architectural and furniture manufacturing.

We are hiring for a Senior Studio Fabricator/Metalworker who wants to work in a creative environment. The candidate needs to have significant experience in metalworking, welding, metal fabrication, architectural and/or furniture manufacturing.

The successful applicant will be a creative fabricator motivated by producing work of high quality both in product and process, and with a desire for growth. Responsibilities and Duties

-reading the drawings, and understanding the expectations for the project

-fabricating the product – TIG and MIG welding, fitting, bending, forming, machining, blending, polishing, and other fabrication techniques. We work primarily with steel, brass, copper and bronze, and occasionally with stainless steel and aluminum, as well as other mediums and materials (wood, glass, plastics, and fabric, among others)

-working solo or in collaboration with/delegating to other team members as necessary to create efficient workflow

-preparing the product for finishing – conducting quality control based on the established expectations

-learning new processes to expand your skillset

-basic coordination with outside vendors

-installation if necessary

Qualifications and Skills

Good knowledge of the different materials (steel, brass, copper, bronze, stainless steel, aluminum) & how to fabricate components and structures from them

Good knowledge of hand and power tools

Welding experience – we primarily use TIG welding with MIG welding as a second option

Knowledge of fine metal finishing techniques (grinding, blending, graining, polishing, patina) or interest to learn

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Salary: From $35.00 per hour
