About Us

Facilities Management is responsible for the planning, development, construction, operation, maintenance and stewardship of all the buildings, infrastructure, sites and services within Western’s campus community. We work closely with campus partners to coordinate new construction and renovation projects as well as to complete maintenance and service requests.

Responsibilities

The Summer Student in the Air Conditioning / Metal Fabrication Shop will assist the Refrigeration Mechanics, Welders, Gas Technicians and Sheet Metal Mechanics with aspects of their role. The incumbent’s responsibilities will include carrying; lifting; reaching; bending; completing work on ladders; organizing and transporting tools, supplies and parts required for work orders; as well as preventative maintenance. The Summer Student will assist in keeping the shops clean and safe.

Qualifications

Education: Currently enrolled in post-secondary studies and returning full-time to post-secondary studies in the fall

Experience: Preference will be given to those with previous experience assisting trades

Preferred: Possess and maintain a valid Ontario G2 Class Driver’s license (with a clean driver’s abstract)

  • Must possess a mechanical aptitude
  • Reliable and dependable with the ability to consistently work assigned schedule
  • Ability to follow processes and practices with high attention to detail
  • Proven attention to detail, efficient and well-organized
  • Must possess a valid G driver’s license and clean driver’s abstract
  • Preferred: knowledge of Western University’s campus and the Division of Facilities Management
