The Opportunity

The Supervisor-Fabrication will work closely with the department leaders to oversee the daily activities necessary to achieve our Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) in safety, quality, delivery, and cost (SQDC) for the Fuse and Switches product line. They will supervise a team consisting of hourly team members working the afternoon shift. They provide day-to-day work direction for the team, focused on maintaining steady workflow and productivity and resolving operational decisions. The supervisor will promote a safety culture, taking all reasonable precautions to protect team members from illness or injury at all times.

The Requirements

College diploma in industrial production, operations management, engineering, or related, or equivalent experience.

A minimum of three (3) years of Team Lead / Production Supervisory experience in a machining & metal fabrication manufacturing facility

Experience and a minimum of five (5) years of experience in a machining & metal fabrication manufacturing facility

Experience and/or strong knowledge of Laser and saw cutting, forming and bending, punch presses, welding (manual and robotic), machining (milling, latches, etc.), drilling, sandblasting, power washing, and tumbling.

Knowledge of working with different materials such as Copper, Mild Steel, Structural Steel, Stainless Steel, castings, Brass & alloys.

Certification or diploma in Tool and die, CNC-Operator, or Equipment Manufacturers Operator would be an asset

Specific Skills

Knowledge of LPS, including use of tools such as 5S, 4SPS, Kaizen, go/see events, Gemba walks, etc.

Six Sigma green belt or black belt would be considered an asset.

Knowledge of manufacturing tools and equipment, including the operation of manual and CNC Machine tools, tool and die repairs, hydraulics, pneumatics, and electrical controls.

Experience working with equipment manufactured by Trumpf, Mazak, Cincinnati, and Hydmech would be considered an asset.

Knowledge of the Occupational Health and Safety Act and responsibilities as a supervisor.

Excellent time management, organization, communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills.

Experience in scheduling, resource allocation, and priority planning toward deadlines.

An understanding of basic management approaches such as work scheduling, prioritizing, coaching, and process execution.

Excellent attention to detail with the ability to read schematics and blueprints.

Excellent attention to detail and final quality

Experience with Microsoft Office, Excel, and ERP systems such as Oracle.

Knowledge of switchgear is preferred but not required.
