As the Supervisor for Welding & Materials Engineering, you will develop company specifications and provide field support related to materials, metallurgy, corrosion, and welding engineering, ensuring compliance to applicable codes. What You Will Do

  • Supervise a team of four engineers. Train and mentor Engineers & Technicians in matters of materials, metallurgy, corrosion and welding engineering.

  • Develop and update company specifications and practices related to metallic, corrosion, welding , non-destructive examination, and quality assurance.

  • Develop and maintain welding procedures to ensure compliance with CSA Z662, ASME IX.

  • Support field welding operations through weld procedure selection, troubleshooting, and in-service welding assessments including weld modelling.

  • Support procurement processes by reviewing material test reports and technical exception requests from vendors to ensure compliance with codes, standards.

  • Provide materials and welding engineering support to pipeline and equipment integrity programs, capital projects of all sizes, and company initiatives in business development and operational excellence.

Who You Are

You have the following education and experience:

  • Engineering degree in Metallurgical or Materials Engineering with minimum seven or more years of directly related experience in the oil and gas industry.

  • Professional Engineering Designation (P.Eng).

  • Working knowledge of metallic materials, welding engineering, NDE and quality assurance.

  • Proven leadership experience.

  • Demonstrated strong technical, problem solving, and decision-making skills.

  • Demonstrated strong communication skills (verbal and written).

  • Valid Ontario Class G driver’s license.

Following will be the preferred skills:

  • Experience conducting root cause analysis, forensic metallurgical failure analysis and material testing.

  • Familiar with the fundamentals of Quality Assurance from both a procurement and construction standpoint.

  • Experience with applicable codes, standards and regulatory requirements (i.e. CSA, ASME, API, MSS, Ont Reg 210/01, etc.)

  • Participation in technical societies and code committees.

  • Previous management experience.
