Job Description
This position will be responsible for performance qualification testing of welders, and the development of welding procedure specifications.
Responsibilities will include:
Work with engineers, technologists and trades people to help our clients succeed in the construction of critical oil and gas infrastructure projects
Interpret regulatory and statutory requirements, codes and customer specifications relating to fabrication, welding and materials.
Determine client requirements and develop testing protocol for welding procedure specifications.
Monitor welding parameters, and write procedure qualification records and welding procedure specifications
Prepare work orders that communicate testing requirements to other departments.
Interpret laboratory test report results.
Conduct welder performance qualification testing.
Assist clients with the implementation welding processes and technologies.
Help to resolve client manufacturing and field issues.
Evaluate client procedures for code compliance and provide recommendations
Provide consulting services to clients.
Participate in peer reviews of welding documentation
Qualifications
Required Education / Experience:
Post-secondary education in Welding Engineering, Welding Engineering Technology or Manufacturing Engineering Technology Program (three-year program) is required
Welding Examiner Certificate of Competency issued by ABSA is required
C.E.T., E.I.T., P.Tech. or P.Eng. required (I.W.T. also acceptable with the approval of the Welding Services Manager)
CSA W178.2 Level 2 or 3 Welding Inspector Certificate is required.
Minimum of 2 years experience in welding engineering / welding engineering technology.
