POSITION OVERVIEW:
Reporting to the Maintenance Supervisor, the Technician, Welder is responsible for fabricating, maintaining and repairing equipment using safe and efficient welding techniques. This is a key role performing preventive, predictive and breakdown maintenance for surface mining equipment including large scale shovels, drills and trucks.

MAGINO MINE:
The Magino Project is a brown-fields site located in northern Ontario, Canada that contains an historical underground gold mine, landfill and tailings management facility (“TMF”). The Corporation has conducted a Feasibility Study during 2017 that examined mining the deposit using conventional open pit mining methods and extraction of gold from the ore using a 10,000 tonnes per day carbon-in-pulp (“CIP”) mineral processing facility. When developed, Magino will produce around 150,000 ounces of gold during the first five years of production. The project has over a 15-year mine production life (including one year of pre-production).

RESPONSIBILITIES:
Calculate quantities of materials needed and safely fuse metals using prescribed welding applications and techniques.

Read procedures and prints as part of the diagnostic process, layout work.

Conduct inspections on mining equipment and structures, diagnose, repair and maintain as needed.

Perform quality maintenance work as directed by the supervisor.

Strict adherence to all health, safety and environmental requirements and commitment to the continued improvement of OHSE.

Collaborate with other departments, tradespeople and contractors to provide innovative solutions.

Support maintenance personnel and perform other duties as may be assigned.

Follow all company policies and procedures.

QUALIFICATIONS:
Valid Red Seal Welder certification, previous experience in maintenance of mining heavy equipment.

CWB, SMAW, GMAW, FCAW, and GTAW preferred.

Capable of reading engineering drawings and CWB requirements for modifications.

Solid knowledge of various types of equipment involved with different welding techniques.

Ability to recognize defective welds; know the cause and proper procedure for repair.

Working knowledge of the required codes and mathematic calculations pertaining to the welding trade.

Be familiar with the work of other trades people in affiliated trades.

Valid Ontario driver’s licence.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:
The role is located at the Magino Mine, which is approximately 88 kilometres northeast of Wawa, Ontario, Canada.

The ideal candidate for the role will work a rotation of 4 days on and 3 off.
