Textile Fabricator – Internship Description
1 Year Contract
Wave Fibre Mill is a small semi-worsted spinning mill that processes fleece for small
Canadian farms.
Also, using fleece from Ontario regenerative farms, the mill weaves and knits yardage and produces a line of high end, natural fibre, plastic free, local garments, accessories and houseware.
We currently have available two full-time permanent positions for the Ontario Youth
Internship Program.
We are looking for Textile and Material Fabricators.
As an internship, candidates will be trained on all equipment and mill processes.
Location: Seguin Ontario at the Parry Sound Municipal Airport
Job Description:
● Cutting, sewing, pattern drafting, garment construction
● Loom and equipment operation
● Fabric finishing
● Customer Relations
● Various tasks throughout the mill as needed
Skills:
● High mechanical aptitude
● Experience drafting patterns, cutting and sewing an asset
● Experience with fibre and weaving/sewing equipment an asset
● Must be able to read and write English
● Must have basic math skills (add, subtract, multiply and divide)
● Attention to detail and willingness to learn and take safe initiatives
● Self-motivated team player with the ability to work independently
● Strong time management, written and verbal communications skills
● Able to work around animal fibre (sheep wool, alpaca, mohair, etc.)
● Able to work around machine grease, oils and soaps, etc. in a mill setting
● Must be able to lift, carry, bend, stand and climb stairs
Criteria:
● Be under the age of 30
● Be legally entitled to work in Canada
● Have not previously participated as a youth intern in FedNor’s Regional
Economic growth through Innovation or in any other federal or provincial internship program with pay for a period of six months or more.
● Reside in Northern Ontario or willing to move to the region for the period of the internship.
● Recently graduated within the last 3 years with a degree, diploma or certificate from a recognized post-secondary institution
