Overview

Essential duties and responsibilities

Successfully complete weld operator qualification in accordance with AWS and customer requirements for TIG(GTAW).

Produce high quality welds which are subject to X-ray, penetrant, and other inspection methods.

Salvage repair casting defects. Often in difficult locations and configurations.

Work with castings made from difficult alloys such as cobalt, stainless steel, and nickel.

Retrieve, read, and understand component routings, drawings, work instructions, and maps.

Perform pre-weld, in-process, and post-weld inspections.

Complete required documentation, forms, logs, instructions, and maps.

Wear and maintain task specific personal protective equipment, e.g. heat resistant gloves, welding helmet, respiratory protection.

Effectively communicate technical information verbally, written, and electronically.

Operate material moving equipment including forklifts and hoists.

Support training of new personnel and implementation of process and equipment changes.

Maintain a neat and orderly work area by following 5S/6S principles.


Minimum physical requirements

Vision requirement of Snellen 20/25 (distance), Jaeger 1 (near), and Ishahara color perception, natural or corrected.

Sit/stand for extended periods of time.

Must be able to lift 50lbs.


CANDIDATE REQUIREMENTS

3 to 5 years experience in producing high quality TIG (GTAW) welds.

3 to 5 years experience in a manufacturing or production environment (or training equivalent).

Successful completion of vocational training, or welding certification program, or the equivalent in proven experience required (Previous employer certifications).

Knowledge of welding procedures and processes.

Self-motivated with a high level of ownership and accountability.

Must be attentive to detail.
