Job Description

SUMMARY

This is a temporary position lasting 3 -6 months. This position is will work under close supervision. This position uses an Arc welder and electrode rods to perform tack and bead welds, and oxygen/acetylene torch for cutting metals. This position will operate hand and power tools to grind, bevel, fit metals together, and remove slag. This position will select proper electrodes and holders and regulates current and time. This role could be performed by an employee with a high school education plus a welding certification and several years of experience.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Follows all company safety rules and policies.

Uses electrical welding technique to weld parts of refrigeration model unit to include, but not limited to, corner doors, drip pans, S/S tops, frames, and glass door frames.

Checks specific component for proper dimensions and quality.

Reads shop pack to determine various parts assemblies required, and coordinate with appropriate personnel to obtain the correct required components.

May install/weld various assembled parts according to job traveler or supervisor instructions.

May be required to properly attach serial tag to top of unit.

Rechecks shop pack for correctness.

Inspects products and processes while performing job duties to ensure all work done meets or exceeds standards of the company’s quality program.

Works cooperatively and congenially with co-workers to achieve cohesive and productive work processes and work environment.

Performs additional tasks as assigned by management or as the situation requires.

Daily inspection of welding PPE, inspect electrical and all gas connection (connectors, gas fitting, cables, hoses, and all water cooling systems) to insure welding machine is still in good condition for safe operation before use.

Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum six months experience required in GTAW (TIG welding) or electrical welding techniques.

Prefer Electrical welders have six months to one year of electrical welding school.

Ability to follow verbal and written instructions regarding techniques required for general assembly work.

Ability to weld thin gauge metals

Ability to read and understand simple blueprints.

Ability to use a variety of small hand tools, power tools, and welding equipment.

Possess basic mechanical aptitude and ability.

Ability to communicate clearly with other co-workers to coordinate number and type of assemblies required

Education and Work Experience

High school diploma or GED is required.

Certificates and Licenses

Welding certification is required.

While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is:
Required to attend work when scheduled. Attendance is an essential function and working overtime as scheduled to meet customer expectations

May be required to lift up to 35 pounds

Fine manipulation is needed for PC work and use of other office equipment.

Visual requirements include ability to read and follow directions.

This person may encounter office hazards.

Will be required to wear personal protective equipment in posted areas of the plant.

Total awareness of the plant environment as it pertains to the safety of other employees, operation of equipment, handling of equipment/materials, and visitors required.

Working Conditions

Working in manufacturing environment

Perform activities including bending, stooping, standing, walking

Stand and walk from six (6) to eight (8) hours per day

Climb up and down stairs four (4) to six (6) times per day

Operate common office equipment, i.e. PC, phone, copier, printer, fax
