Overview

We are currently seeking a Tooling & Weld Fixture Designer to join our Saskatoon Manufacturing Plant. This position is responsible for the design, layout, construct, alter and repair a normal variety of tools, dies, fixtures, gauges, machines and equipment.

In your role you will:

· Perform design reviews and follow-up fixturing concerns through to production.

· Set up and make tool tryouts, diagnose and remedy operations, material or dimensional problems.

· Make correct decisions as to fits, finishes, machining and assembly sequences in order to produce workable units and maintain close tolerances.

· Plan inspection procedures and layout work in proper inspection sequence.

· Demonstrate an understanding of statistical process control and geometric tolerancing.

· Ensure all products meet the quality guidelines and follow all quality standards, procedures and guidelines in place and be active in improving product quality.

· Utilize CAD software extensively and occasionally hand sketches to design welding, machining, and assembly fixtures for manufacturing.

· Resolve design problems related to material characteristics, dimensional tolerances, service requirements, manufacturing procedures, and cost.

· Design fixtures and tooling in modelling software and making detailed 2D prints of all components.

· Modify tool designs according to trial or production service data to improve tool life or performance.

· Collaborate with customer to understand tool/equipment requirements through Scope of Work review and, if necessary, coach customer on development of effective SOW.

· Develop tools that focus on ease of use for end-user and incorporate, when possible, error mistake proof devices to help reduce or eliminate human error.

· Initiate and support continuous improvement of operational processes and support activities.

The Qualified Candidate will have:

· Technologist and Engineering backgrounds will be considered an asset

The ideal Candidate will have:

· Excellent organizational skills

· Good knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint.

· Modelling software experience will be considered an asset.

· Good communication skills, both verbal and written.

· Project Management experience would be considered an asset.
