Transformer Welder

We are looking for a skilled Welder at our facilities. This position is responsible for the Welding/Assembly of all enclosures, tanks, and other structural components for all Power Transformers, Switch Gear, Reactors, and other related Equipment. All fabrications are done per the mechanical blueprint specifications and built to established internal shop standards and/or per the Metal Fabrication supervisor’s instructions. A welder must be competent in using potentially dangerous equipment following all safety precautions. The ideal candidate will have a steady hand and great attention to detail.
Qualifications

• Minimum of one (1) year of welding experience Steel Mig, Stick, Flux Core, or Oxy/Acetylene Torch
• Blueprint experience
• Ability to lift 60 lbs

Responsibilities

• Read blueprints and drawings and take or read measurements to plan layout and procedures
• Welding of the component assembly’s per specifications and ensuring quality and accuracy of work

• Determine the appropriate welding equipment or method based on requirements
• Set up components for welding according to specifications
• Operate angle grinders to prepare the parts that must be welded
• Weld components using manual or semi-automatic welding equipment in various positions

• Repair machinery and other components by welding pieces and filling gaps
• Test and inspect welded surfaces and structures to discover flaws
• Maintain equipment in a condition that does not compromise safety

Skills

• Proven experience as a welder
• Experience using a variety of welding equipment and procedures
• Experience in using electrical or manual tools
• Ability to read and interpret technical documents and drawings
• Knowledge of relative safety standards and willingness to use protective clothing (face-shield, gloves, etc.)
• Deftness and attention to detail
• Proficient in English
• Successful completion of a relevant apprenticeship program is required
• Professional Certification (e.g. an AWS welding certificate) will be a plus
