YMCA Employment Services is pleased to offer a “Try a Trade” Training Program to encourage participants to enter into the trades of Truck and Coach Technician, Power Lift Technician, Welding and Parts Technician.
You will have the opportunity to develop job-specific skills with a paid work placement.
PROGRAM DURATION: Approximately 5 months including orientation period, work experience and in class instruction.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Willing to work and go to school in the Hamilton or Halton Area.
- Grade 12 or Equivalent.
- Mechanical aptitude and interested in committing to the apprenticeship training.
- Must have valid driver’s license, able to obtain a driver’s abstract, and access to a vehicle.
Candidates in the program will be matched/placed with an employer for 8 paid weeks. Upon completion and if suitable, the candidate will be registered as an apprentice with their training employer.
