About the role

We’re looking for a Unit Claims Manager to join our growing team!

As a Unit Claims Manager, you will be responsible for managing the successful operation of the Minor Injury Guideline (MIG) Team within the Accident Benefits unit.

What you’ll do here:
Participate in the development and implementation of business plans and manage operations to achieve key business goals.

Provide effective leadership, motivate staff and be responsible for hiring and delivering employee performance feedback.

Provide coaching on technical and professional skills for your team and facilitate continuous learning by building robust development plans for your employees.

Develop, recommend, and implement management and/or organizational initiatives to support company strategies including changes to organizational structure and process/technology improvements.

Act in a consultative and advisory capacity on claims matters such as: policy interpretation and settlement negotiation to help resolve claims-related issues.

Liaise with other claims experts on technical and administrative issues.

Maintain a respectful and productive business relationship with vendors, service providers, legal firms, and internal client groups.

Qualifications

What you bring to the table:
Proven leadership skills

Experience in coaching and developing staff

A minimum of 5 years work experience in claims handling or prior management experience

Knowledge of provincial legislation governing auto insurance

Excellent customer service skills

Minor Injury experience is an asset

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with all levels of staff

College diploma or university degree is preferred

Completed or are working toward a Chartered Insurance Professional (CIP) designation

Proficiency in a variety of PC software
