Prodomax Automation Ltd. is seeking a Weld and Fabrication Lead to join our team. Reporting to the Production Manager, the Weld Shop Lead will be responsible for the Weld and Fabrication Shop and the Paint Department.
Located in Barrie, Ontario, Prodomax is a specialized industrial engineering firm focused on designing complex automation with a blue-chip customer base. Operating from two facilities totaling 200,000 square feet with 200+ employees; we are ISO 9001:2015 certified.

Key Duties & Responsibilities:
Fulfil duties as a Welder/Fitter at a Senior level
Ensure Prodomax health and safety policies are followed by all employees to promote a safe working environment at all times
Work closely with the Production Manager, Procurement Specialist, Machine Shop Lead and the Engineering Department to reduce overall welding and fabrication costs through design and process improvements
Distribute work to appropriate co-workers and align that work with company priorities
Quote and estimate fabrication hours to plan internal capacity
Balance both internal welding and fabrication capacity and outsourcing of work
Manage engineering revision changes and ensure open communication lines are developed with engineering to ensure all changes are captured
Work with Engineering and Project Management to plan and strategize future work
Read and interpret drawings to determine work and/or repair procedures
Plan, review and execute resource requirements in constantly changing environment
Participate in recruitment process for Weld Shop resources
Research and evaluate the effectiveness of machinery, equipment and shop procedures in order to recommend and implement changes to improve operational efficiency
Provide ongoing orientation and training of new employees
Hold group meetings and attend departmental meetings
Approve time and attendance records for the Weld and Paint Departments
Handle disciplinary actions and performance issues as they arise with consistency, in accordance with company policy
Arrange training for new employees and monitor on-going training for current employees
Conduct employee PROformance Reviews
Communicate with other Supervisors/Managers to coordinate work activities
Demonstrate ability to facilitate meetings with teams to produce quality results and build positive relationships
Provide feedback to other personnel for continuous improvement.
Mentor and lead Junior and Intermediate Welder/Fitters
Qualifications, skills and abilities
Experience and Technical Skills:
Completion of an apprenticeship program for Welder and holds a Certificate of Qualification, or equivalent
Minimum 5+ years direct working experience
Strong mechanical skills
Forklift and Bridge Crane experience is an asset
