Weld Maintenance Technician

We are currently recruiting for a Weld Maintenance Technician for our facility in Cambridge, Ontario.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Maintain project welding and supporting equipment.
  • Develop and control weld tool operating procedures.
  • Responsible for project specific weld development techniques, development welding procedures and maintaining welder qualifications.
  • Participate in moderately complex engineering assignments supporting activities associated with design, testing, production, and operation of equipment/systems.
  • Assist professional /senior staff in diagnosing equipment, system(s) and material failures using various processes and tooling.
  • Recognize and implement process improvements through tooling, fixtures, mockups and processing.
  • Review/oversee the work of other groups performing routine assignments.
  • Routinely work unsupervised in field situations.
  • Responsible for weld tooling continuous improvements, monitoring of tooling performance and completing any tooling modifications as identified in project lessons learned.
  • Support remote project specific outages including operation, troubleshooting and maintaining welding equipment used in the field.
  • Responsible for project specific training (trades and project staff).
  • Maintain spare parts inventory.
  • Manage the project specific budget for weld tooling.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Post-secondary education in a technical field. A Welding Technologist is preferred.
  • Strong welding automation background is an asset.
  • Familiarity with the ASME code is an asset.
  • Field projects will require shift work and extended hours of work.
  • Routine project site work/travel (up to 25% – 30%).
  • Excellent communications skills.
  • Previous work experience in an associated welding discipline.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills to effectively work in a team setting of professional staff.
  • Displays technical competence while understanding objectives as presented by Design Engineering.
