Weld Supervisor – Afternoon Shift

The Weld Supervisor position is responsible for Reporting to the General, the Production Supervisor coordinating and directing the activities of the weld department to maximize productivity and minimize cost while maintaining quality. Responsibilities include inspecting products to verify production specifications and targets are met, train and supervise production personnel, as well as direct shift supervisors on production volume, quality standards, cost constraints and scheduling requirements while maintaining health and safety standards

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Completion of secondary school is required.
  • CWB Supervisory certification
  • Three years of welding experience, and at least five years of supervision experience
  • Familiarity with employee legislation.
  • Excellent communication skills in order to effectively interact with managers and supervisors to explain progress of jobs and to obtain instructions and tasks.
  • Organize and lead meetings with employees.
  • Ability to plan employees’ days, schedule appointments and adjust schedules in response to customers’ demands.
  • Review turnaround times for repairs and installations and diverse skills of workers to ensure job tasks are assigned to appropriate workers.
  • Change work assignments and schedules to maintain and improve efficiency.
  • Ability to operate and troubleshoot machines and equipment. Ability to use basic computer applications and software such as Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook.
  • Ability to continuously learn to keep up with new technologies, new products, new information and regulatory changes within industry. Participate in seminars, courses, and other learning opportunities through the organization.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Co-ordinate and direct the activities of the welding production department to direct the activities of employee’s and equipment.
  • Allocating work to employees, setting production targets and communicating precise instructions.
  • Effective employee relations.
  • Respond to employee concerns promptly and work with HR to resolve.
  • Monitor and initiate training activities in the department and all related documentation.
  • Works and ensures that all employees work in a safe manner, in a safe environment.
  • Complete performance evaluations for their department as required.
  • Perform weekly safety inspections, 5s inspections, Layered Audits.
  • Complete tasks as assigned from Monthly Workplace Inspections.
  • Participate in the corrective action process.
  • Must be able to troubleshoot equipment.
  • Perform other duties/projects as assigned
