Overview

Trinity Rail Maintenance Services, is searching for a Weld Tech / Trainer in our Fort Worth office. This

role will test applicants and train production employees in all welding and fitting processes and techniques.

Communicate welding techniques, procedures, and applications of welding equipment of production specification, properties and characteristics of metals and metal alloys, and engineering principles.

What you’ll do:
Develop and adhere to cohesive welding training plans for new employees

Conduct welder qualification tests in accordance to specific ISO procedures and applicable codes

Using best practices, develop and or modify existing work instructions for Fitters and Welders using best practices

Audit technical aspects of production welding operation to maintain and improve quality and efficiency standards; pinpoint and solve problems.

Improve existing, develop new or modify current welding methods, techniques, and procedures

Establish recommendations for improved welder/fitter performance and give recommendation to management for employee development.

Establish welding procedures to guide production and welding personnel relating to specification restrictions, material processes, pre-and post-heating requirements which involve use of complex alloys, unusual fabrication methods, and welding of critical joints

Evaluate new developments in welding field for possible application to current welding problems or production processes

Coach and train employees on welding changes

Direct and coordinates technical personnel in performing inspections to ensure workers compliance with established welding procedures, restrictions, and standards; in testing welds for conformance with national code requirements; or testing welding personnel for verification

Contact personnel of other agencies, engineering personnel, or clients to exchange ideas, information, or offer technical advice concerning welding matters. Will perform experimental welding to evaluate new equipment, techniques, and materials

Plan and establish sequence of operations to fabricate and assemble products and promote efficient utilization

Effectively communicate welding manufacturing concepts, some of which are of a complex nature, to all levels from Operators to Management.

Ensure compliance with department policies and procedures and applicable laws, rule and regulations

Perform safety, health, and environmental inspections; inspect equipment, and lead special projects as assigned. Investigate and resolve safety issues

Responsible for continuous improvement in safety, quality and productivity and proactive in improvements; be able to provide documentation for improvement with before/after metrics that demonstrate improvements

What you”ll need:
Assigned Shift: 1st, 6am – 4pm (must be flexible)

Minimum of 3 years experience in manufacturing environment

Strong leadership and communication skills (Bilingual preferred)

Computer proficient (Spreadsheets, Word processing, Project scheduling, Presentations (Power Point), with strong organizational skills

Hands on experience with the following weld processes: FCAW, GMAW, SAW and SMAW

Experience troubleshooting welding related problems

Experience working with AWS D1.1 structural welding code-steel
