Applicants must be proficient in both TIG and MIG welding styles.

We now have 1st and 2nd shift options available. 2nd shift is Mon-Thursday 3:00 P.M. – 1:00 A.M. (when not running overtime). Overtime is often ran as extended shifts of 12 hours and Friday if needed. 1st shift is 7:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m. with overtime run as extended shifts starting at 6:00 am. and on Saturday.

Summary of Duties and Responsibilities

Layout, fit and weld metal parts according to specifications, producing sub-assemblies or assemblies.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

1. Follow and comply with all company policies and procedures.

2. Interprets blueprints and sketches of varying complexity to determine layout and process necessary in assembly of ferrous and non-ferrous materials.

3. Sets up various welding, grinding, and cutting equipment to accomplish assigned tasks.

4. Fixtures, assembles and prepares various parts to be joined and secures them according to specifications.

5. Works independently to assemble and join sub-assemblies and assemblies to conform to blueprints and drawings.

6. Inspects and tests work to ensure compliance to requirements.

7. Fills out all required production paperwork and records.

8. Maintains work area in clean and safe condition.

9. Performs other duties as assigned.

Education and Experience

High school diploma, GED or equivalent. Requires minimum of 3 years welding experience in MIG and/or TIG. (Less if welder trained at SMT and has approval by supervisor based on quality and productivity of work.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Must be able to read complex blueprints and perform complex mathematical calculations.

Advanced knowledge of various welding equipment, grinding equipment and hand tools including pliers, wrenches, screwdrivers. Ability to use basic quality inspection equipment including calipers and micrometers.

Position requires employee to complete OSHA Respiratory Protection Medical Questionnaire Form and evaluated for pulmonary fitness. Both proper training for respirator use and respirator fit tested must be completed prior to first day of employment.

Working Conditions

Constant exposure to one or more elements typically found in a manufacturing setting such as noise, dust, heat, fumes or dirt, which may not be desirable. In some areas, exposure to hazards may require the use of personal protective equipment including weld shields or helmets.

Pay: $17.00 – $21.00 per hour
